For the first time in a long time, Rally Isle of Man is not the finale of the British Rally Championship season. Motorsport history just seeps from the rocks, mountains and asphalt around this island. The 2017 season came down to the last stage and one tenth of a second on this rally.
For 2018 the schedule has been revisited with all stages, bar SS1 and the last stage being repeated over the weekend. The schedule has also been compressed in time but not in challenge to meet the requests from many of the competitors. The Steam Packet Company have also changed their sailing times to ensure that those competitors from Ireland can now take their service vehicles over on the Wednesday of rally week, returning on the Saturday evening.
