BRC Academy Trophy offers Junior pathway with 2022 prize offering

The Motorsport UK British Rally Championship will offer the perfect pathway into the Junior BRC this season by offering the winner of the BRC Academy Trophy free entries into all Junior BRC rounds in 2022.

Contesting the same seven-round calendar as the BRC top-flight and Junior contenders, the BRC Academy Trophy is open to all drivers under 25 years old and will provide the perfect introduction to the British Rally Championship for those wishing to progress their careers within the series.

Open to older generation ‘R2’ machinery, the category offers a competitive home for newcomers to the series driving the likes of the Citroen C2, Ford Fiesta R2 and R2T, Opel Adam and Skoda Fabia (cars homologated before 31/12/2018).

Competitors will sample the same events and same stages as the Junior BRC crews and will be able to hone their skills against some of the fastest Juniors in the UK. They will also be able to take advantage of the pre-event recce, ensuring an all-round skill-set for the future.

After the scintillating battle on the stages of gravel and asphalt surfaces across each of the seven rounds, the Academy Trophy winner will walk away with free entries to every round of the 2022 Junior BRC, a prize fund worth around £6,000.*

Iain Campbell – BRC Championship Manager

“The British Rally Championship has a very long history of developing Junior drivers and offering the perfect proving ground to develop their rallying careers further.

We recognise that not all young drivers can make the leap straight into the Junior BRC and had devised the BRC Academy Trophy in 2020 to provide an achievable stepping stone for progressive crews who have the ambition to contest the Junior series in the future. It provides a great entry-level to experience the BRC in perhaps older specification machinery whilst taking advantage of all the series has to offer.
